Why Not... Mix Traditional and Trendy for the Holidays?
Each year when the holidays approach it can be hard to believe that they are here already, they have a way of sneaking up on us before we know it!
I’m always so grateful for the holidays though and the time that I get to spend with family and friends reminiscing on the past year and all that it has brought to us. As we enter this season it is hard not to get excited about all of the holiday traditions that come along with it, there is something so special about keeping the spirit alive doing things that you have been doing since you were a child and passing them down to your children and grandchildren as well! I love the nostalgia and the rekindling of memories, but I also enjoy taking time to celebrate the trends that come each year - some of which become traditions as well. Here are some of the holiday trends that I am looking forward to in 2021:
Homemade baked goods, fresh from scratch meals, and the revival and/or evolution of family recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation. There is something special about the time that is spent in the kitchen and the labor of love that is cooking something you know that your family and friends will enjoy. I believe that your kitchen should be a space you enjoy being, and somewhere you look forward to entertaining your guests each holiday season!
Bright and colorful holiday decor pieces that breathe life into your space, even during the shorter daylight hours when we are spending much more time in our homes during the evening. I am looking forward to seeing more bright ornaments, garland, table decor, and fun neon pieces! There is something fun and refreshing about the play between traditional ornaments that have been passed down and the bright and colorful pieces that are trendy this holiday season.
Lastly, DIY decor is underrated and brings a fun and unique element to your home for holiday entertaining. It’s a simple way to truly make your holiday decor your own and also makes your holiday hosting much more inviting for your family and your guests. Some DIY things to consider this year are menus, place cards, or you can even try your hand at crafting some candles to center pieces that can double as take-home gifts!
Every year I love to revive the traditions that I have grown up with and passed down, but it’s so exciting to see the new trends and new life that is being brought to the season as well! What are you looking forward to most during the 2021 holiday season?
